Yesterday, Brian, the Flux publicist, sent me my first review……. it was in KLIATT which is a bimonthly magazine publishing reviews of fiction for young adults. It makes recommendations for libraries and schools.
It’s mixed, but there is some good stuff in there. Here’s an exctract:
Suzy’s reasons for assuming a new persona are understandable, but her complete (and very successful) overhaul isn’t believable. She becomes a more endearing character when she allows herself to be who she truly is….Thank goodness for the introduction of Ryan, who is not only complex and caring, but helps Suzy work out why she needs to just be herself. The topics addressed here – sexuality, friendship, family relationsships – all add depth to the plot and should provide much fodder for discussion.
PS Remaining prize winners to be announced tomorrow!
